Nicole has some interesting stats and info on banned books from the American Library Association. Plus Sara went down a rabbit hole to research where movie ratings originate from and what they really mean.
Nicole: It’s Banned Books week! The ALA does compile what books have been reported that have been targeted, find some information HERE. Middle Country does have policies and forms for any patrons that might have any questions about how we purchase and choose our titles.

Sara: I discuss movie ratings, who does them, and why? The ratings started in the 1920s. The deets can be found HERE. Did you know there is a rating board that’s established by the MPAA that rates the movies and it is not the MPAA!? Yes, and the committee is called CARA. It’s very interesting to see who and how you can be on the CARA ratings board, check it out HERE. And did you know that there is a bulletin published online for all movies submitted for ratings?
