Episode 333 – Swim Safely and Read this Summer

Now that the summer is in full swing, you might take a dip in the pool or head out to the beach… Nicole has some tips to stay safe this summer around the water. Once you are cooled off and relaxed from your swim, why not read a great book? Check out what Sara recommends this week for some potential summer reads! Takeaways from this episode: Nicole’s mom wanted Nicole to see the circle of life at the beach when she was a young lass, Sara does not float or like deep waters, Sal makes a bad joke about teak surfing, Nicole LOVES boat life.

Nicole likes to remind everyone about water safety every summer as it’s a very important topic. We recommend the American Red Cross website and the CDC website. But we all agree that we are not super beach people but for those who are, be careful of riptides, swim in a lifeguarded area, never swim alone, be aware of weather and water conditions and swim within your means. Also, don’t be a hero (unless you are a life guard), get help so you are also not in trouble. And what is teak surfing? Well, it is when you ride the waves the boat makes with no skis or anything, Nicole advises against it, as does the CDC.
