Give Our Regards to Broadway

Interested in seeing a Broadway show but don’t know where to start or how to plan? After listening to this week’s episode, (Whew! Jam-packed and one of our longest eps to date!) head over to these great resources provided by our very own Broadway enthusiast Elizabeth:

Playbill (yes, that Playbill…it’s a little magazine you get when you go to one of these shows). They have an extensive listing of current/upcoming shows, news, reviews, and more.

A subsidiary of the John Gore Organization, a developer and marketer of theater shows worldwide, Broadway.com has a list of current shows and links to buy tickets, along with details such as length, intermissions, age groups, what happens if you arrive late (how dare you!) and more useful tidbits of info,

Broadwayworld.com has interesting data about a show’s grosses along with some industry information that some fans may get a kick out of. It’s also a hub for news and show information.

Elizabeth also mentioned a couple of sites you can visit for discounted tickets:

LincTix, a service that provides 21-35 year olds with access to discount tickets and HipTix, part of the Roundabout Theater Company, providing discounts for people who are hip. And 18-40 years of age.

And if you are a fan of Internet Movie Database but are looking for a Broadway version, look no further than the Internet BROADWAY Database. Clever. You can find it here.

We have a treasure trove of soundtracks original cast recordings here at the library. Almost 300, actually. If you have a library card at MCPL (or are an out-of-district patron in good standing registered in our system) you can access the majority of them in our collection at the Centereach building.
