Episode 344 – Books-a-Plenty

Are you into book series? There are authors who have 10, 20, over 30 books featuring the same characters and places, allowing you to delve deep into a whole new world of intrigue, adventure, and mystery. Sara did her homework this week, along with some extra credit, to bring us plenty of books from some popular series authors available here at the library. PLUS: What’s the best day to straighten your hair? There’s a book to find out…and Nicole’s got the answer on this week’s super-sized episode.

Ok, I just want to say, it’s not super-sized, and Sal tried to cut me off, but this is good stuff you need to know! To listen or watch our full episode, check it out on YouTube.

Sara: People want to READ!!! Let’s look at some series.

  • Michael Connelly- Harry Bosch series, 24 books, Lincoln Lawyer, 7 books
  • James Patterson- has all age groups, Alex Cross, 33 books, Women’s Murder Club, 25 books, Maximum Ride series
  • Nora Roberts- so many!!!!!
  • Tom Clancy- Jack Ryan series, Commander series, among many others
  • David Baldacci- Camel Club, Memory Man, etc

Nicole: What is potty training? And when to do this? Nicole says, hey check out the Old Farmer’s Almanac, est. 1792, based in Maine!! They have some dates on when is the best to do things (suuuuuure). Our copy is a reference copy so stop by to check it out. The best days to make jam or jelly is apparently September 16 or 17. They have best days to camp or straighten your hair, to get married, to slaughter livestock, AND the best days to potty train (9/22 and 9/23). Please don’t get that confused with the newer Farmer’s Almanac, est. 1818, based in New Hampshire. I wonder what the tea on the drama that caused a split between the old and new almanacs.

This episode’s takeaways: Sal thought the Lincoln Lawyer, the books, were named that cause the character liked Abraham Lincoln. Psst…it’s not. Nicole says she will use the Farmer’s Almanac to help figure out when to potty train her child. Psst…Sara thinks it’s never too soon to potty train a child.
